A favorite of history buffs, the Bunker Hill Monument marks the site of one of the first battles of the Revolutionary War just outside of Boston in Charlestown, MA. The 221 ft. tall obelisk was built between 1827 and 1843 and is one of the first monuments in the U.S, according to Wikipedia. It stands atop Breed's Hill, the actual location of the battle although the battle and the monument have been forever remembered as Bunker Hill. That was also the battle where the famous line "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes," was uttered by Colonel William Prescott.
